Story Behind the Coffee

At the age of 50, I am proud to work on our family farm alongside 24 members of our close-knit clan. With each family member assigned a specific role, we form a strong team. Additionally, we hire external labor to assist us during the busy seasons. Like many farmers, I inherited the noble tradition of coffee farming from my parents, and I am delighted to see the new generation in our family choosing to follow this path. I officially embraced the title of a farmer at the age of 15, although I had been helping on the farm even before that. It was at 15 that I truly felt the weight and responsibility of being a farmer. Securing fair prices for our coffee has been a constant struggle. However, our fortunes changed when Qima introduced us to the specialty market. In the past, there were moments when I contemplated giving up on coffee, but my determination kept me going. Our greatest challenge might seem minuscule in size, but its impact is devastating. An unknown insect relentlessly attacks our coffee trees, nearly wiping out 50% of our entire production. To this day, we remain unsure of the insect's identity and how to effectively combat it. I believe what makes my coffee truly unique is the meticulous attention I pay during the harvesting process. My hand-picking technique sets it apart from any other. To those who savor a cup of my coffee, please know that it is the culmination of immense time and effort spent nurturing each coffee tree. Every sip carries the essence of our dedication and care.
