Story Behind the Coffee

Nasir Allahaba is a 60 year old coffee farmer, with over 45 years of farming experience under his belt. He started helping his father, also a farmer by occupation, when he was just 15 years old. He remembers his father as a kind, helpful and happy farmer, one who was always eager to share his knowledge with his fellow farmers and assist them closely. Everything Nasir knows about coffee was passed on by his father, including the passion and love for the craft. It’s no surprise that his family supports him closely, and his sons are now taking an active interest and more responsibility in the cultivation. His farm spans about 200 Libna, where he recently planted 100 new trees alongside the existing ones. In addition to growing coffee, Nasir grows grain, corn and barley. Nasir hopes that Yemeni coffee spreads widely in the international market so Yemeni coffee farmers can at last get the benefits they deserve for a better future. His message to coffee producers echoes his father’s sentiments. “Be gentle with your coffee trees, and always take care of them.”
